Looking to change my doctor. Curerntly with Dr. Emenike but since Dr Uchenna is not working as a Dr anymore I seem to be seeing ARNPs and PSa which I haven't meshed well with.

So of you may know I am a nurse but I know about pediatric Drs since that is the field I've worked in the most. so tell me who you see and whther you like them or anyone you would not suggest. If you don't want to plaster the bad stuff on the thread send me a PM. I like to see rating on things before I buy them and I am no different with getting a new Dr.

I am on CHP. But don't worry about checking to see if they accept it, just tell me about them and I will do the research :)

Here's some of the stuff I am interested in: How long does it take to get a sick appt? Do you get to see a Dr or just ARNPs and PAs? Do referral get handled in a timely fashion? Do the staff seem compentent and listen to you issues or seem to be in la la land when you talk?

Thanks Bunches!

My husband and I both use Dr. Victoria Smith as our PCP. She is on Kerry Forest next to Blockbuster and in the office by herself . We also have CHP. When we moved here and I found out I was pregnant I needed a referral asap. They got me in immediately and we've had no problems ever since. My referral went through the day I asked for it. The office is child friendly as well and had toys, stickers etc. My husband was concerned with having a woman initially, especially when he needed a physical. But he was very comfortable with her and he gets his appts first thing in the morning before work. The only downside is that they don't see children under age 5 and I would have liked to use her as a family doc and bring Isabella there as well.

Good Luck.

My whole family (including the kids) sees Dr. Roy Forman. His office is at CHP on Centerrville. He's an excellent doc and has a wonderful bedside manner. I can honestly say I've never waited more than 10 minutes in the waiting room (it's usually more like 5 minutes)  and I've never been forced to see an ARNP or PA during a scheduled visit. The only drawback is that it's sometimes difficult to get a same day sick appt with him. But that's because he doesn't like to over schedule patients. This means he has plenty of time to spend with each patient and actually listen to what they have to say.

FYI, his PA is WONDERFUL and is often available for same day sick appts.

Good Luck!

Dr Hugh Vanlandingham

He is GREAT, staff is very friendly, referral are fast, and you can get a sick appt that day. They give you the option of seeing whoever you want!

The only dislike is you have to call an answering machine and leave a message to talk to a  nurse.

I also use Dr. Vandlandingham.  In fact I switched my 9 year old son over to him as well.  He is wonderful.  He seems to genuinly care about his patients and he also seems concerned and listens to what you have to say.  I have never had any problem getting a same day sick appointment.  Sometimes I get Dr. Vanlandingham and sometimes I get his PA but I like his PA just as much as him.  Other than same day appointments I don't have any problems making appointments with Dr. Vanlandingham himself.  I also really like the nurses and the staff in their office.  I just recently had to have a referral from his office to a surgeon and I got a call from the surgeons office the next day so it was handled very quickly.  Also I have never waited more than about five minutes for my appointment, they are very fast and efficent with their appointment times.  Lastly I like that they have their own lab.  Even though I am with CHP I can have my blood drawn at their lab and the waits are very minimal and the lab techs are soo great they have gotten me over my fear of needles.

Dr. Jim Thomas in the Governors square location of CHP. He is great! He listens intently to any questions you may have and you always see him and for more than 10 minutes lol. His office number is 383-3560.

Good luck with your search :)

I am a nurse as well and followed Dr. Hugh Vanlandingham through his residency.  He is really aswesome and my  whole family sees him.  He is really wonderful with my allergy/asthma 5 yr old.  His brother hopefully will finish his residency and join him! Hope this helps!

Hey Amanda... We use Dr. Susan Manson at the CHP Governor's Square. She is great and takes the time to go over past and present problems with you. She evens sends you a letter after you have bloodwork done to let you know everything is fine and what certain levels are.  I never had a doctor do that before.  Her nurse always sends out reminder letters or calls when it is time for routine bloodwork.  I have used Victoria Smith, she was great. I left her when she was at Patients First... the people there were very rude. My son uses Dr. Thomas since Dr. Manson doesn't see patients under 16.  I haven't had any issues with him.  Good luck in your search.
